Art video conference

Art students enjoyed a live video conference
with famed children's illustrator Quentin Blake.
Students not only had the opportunity to listen to
him discuss his inspirations, but they were also able
to sketch along with him.  Blake illustrated such
classics as Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory,
BFG and Matilda

The Wait is Over!

We finally have our new giant TV up and running. One-hundred sixteen book trailers are looping right now. Coach Fontenot-Amedee's class is letting us show their book trailers. His students did an excellent job making them. After you see them, you'll want to check out the books they spotlight. We will also be able to show CBTV in the library today. If you miss it during advisory, look for it during your lunch.

And on another note...we have a new chess table. So no more fighting over the one table. Now there are two.

Video Creation Tools

Richard Byrne's newest article in School Library Journal spotlights free video creation tools that can help you make some very cool videos for class projects. Here's what he says: "Every day, YouTube draws millions of viewers for one reason: People love watching videos...There was a time, not too long ago, when making a video required expensive video equipment and software. That’s no longer true. Now, without spending a dime on cameras or software, you could craft the next great documentary or YouTube sensation.”

Give these a try:

Need to Convert a File?

I find myself having to convert files more often than I used to. It's either because a patron brings a file type from home with which our older computers can't cope or because I'm getting ready for our new electronic bulletin board. I found this helpful online converter and so far, it seems to work. Try it out if you need it.

Using your cell phone to learn @ your library

The freshman at CBHS have all attended a library orientation. They participated in a live questionaire by sending their answers via cell phone text. Our students don't "unplug" when they come to school at Clear Brook. We're cutting-edge like that!
